The Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Jang Hye-young) announced on the 24th that a man in his 20s, Park, was indicted in custody on charges of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, etc. (habitual editing and distribution of false videos) and other charges.

Park is accused of producing over 400 false videos and distributing more than 1,700 from July 2020 to last April.

It was investigated that Park contacted another main perpetrator of the case, a Seoul National University graduate Park (40, indicted in custody), via the online messenger Telegram, and together they created and distributed obscene materials targeting dozens of women. The Park indicted this time is known not to be a Seoul National University graduate.

The 'Seoul National University Nth Room' incident refers to a digital sex crime in which a man in his 40s, Park, and Kang (31, in custody) produced and distributed obscene materials using photos of dozens of women including university alumni via Telegram. So far, 61 female victims have been identified, of whom 12 are Seoul National University alumni.

Earlier, the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent Park in his 40s and Kang to prosecution in custody on April 11 and April 16, respectively.

The prosecution brought the man in his 40s to trial in custody on the 1st, and is continuing the investigation into Kang.

The prosecution is also investigating two suspects who were sent to prosecution without detention on charges of producing and distributing illegal synthetic materials created by them.

Another suspect, Han, a Seoul National University graduate, was not prosecuted but is currently on trial without detention following the acceptance of a petition for reconsideration by the Seoul High Court.
