Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the opening ceremony of the Garden Festival held at Yeongdeungpo Park on the afternoon of the 24th and enjoyed the gardens with the residents.
This Yeongdeungpo Garden Festival, themed "Garden Picnic," runs for three days from May 24th to 26th. On this day, Mayor Choi toured the festival site where culture and gardens harmonize, and enjoyed the festival by appreciating gardens that residents personally created, reflecting their own stories.
Held for the first time since the declaration of "Garden City Yeongdeungpo," this festival features a total of eight themed zones including the representative garden (border garden), resident gardens, forest performance stage, shaded rest area, pop-up cultural experience zone, flower road, spring road (pet plant flea market), and food truck zone, offering a variety of sights and experiential programs.
In particular, the representative garden boasts excellent scenery with plants such as hydrangea, allium, and round arborvitae, and is expected to be a festival that delights both the eyes and ears by being linked with the annual "Yeongdeungpo Residents Love Concert."
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, "I welcome everyone who visited the first garden festival held in Yeongdeungpo," adding, "From the Mullae-dong Flower Garden to the Yeongdeungpo Park Garden Festival, the future of 'Garden City Yeongdeungpo' is being drawn with hope. We will create gardens full of rest and healing wherever residents go, building a Yeongdeungpo where nature and people live together."
