A total of 23.3 trillion KRW was collected from 91 types of charges last year.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that it held the Charge Management Deliberation Committee chaired by Vice Minister Kim Yoon-sang to discuss and finalize the "2023 Comprehensive Report on Charge Management."
The amount of charges collected last year increased by 900 billion KRW (4.0%) compared to the previous year. Due to the adjustment of electricity rates, the charge for the Electricity Industry Infrastructure Fund amounted to 3.0106 trillion KRW, an increase of 632.2 billion KRW from the previous year. The departure charge also rose by 222.1 billion KRW from 66.7 billion KRW in 2022 to 288.8 billion KRW last year.
The collected charges were used in various sectors, with 6.5 trillion KRW allocated to the financial sector, including credit guarantees for small and medium enterprises and housing finance support. Additionally, 5.2 trillion KRW was used in industry and energy, and 3 trillion KRW in health and medical services. Vice Minister Kim stated, "We will promptly implement follow-up measures so that the public can directly feel the effects of charge reduction."
