Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director: Lee Seyong) paid 28.5 billion KRW in acquisition tax on the 24th following the completion of Shin Hanul Unit 2.
After obtaining the implementation plan for the electric power development project, construction of Shin Hanul Unit 2 began on April 30, 2010, and approval for building use was obtained on March 28, 2024. With the start of commercial operation on April 5 and the payment of this acquisition tax, the company has made a significant contribution to the local government's finances.
Of the 28.5 billion KRW acquisition tax, 70% (19.9 billion KRW) will be allocated to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government, and 30% (8.6 billion KRW) to Uljin County.
From 2017 to 2023, the total amount of local taxes collected in Uljin County was 821 billion KRW, of which Hanul Headquarters paid 501 billion KRW, accounting for about 61%. Last year alone, Hanul Headquarters paid a total of 124.1 billion KRW in local taxes to Uljin County, including 57.6 billion KRW in local resource facility taxes and 53.5 billion KRW in acquisition tax, making up about 69.7% of the county's total tax revenue and contributing annually to the local government's finances.
Son Byungbok, Governor of Uljin County, expressed his gratitude, saying, "The timely payment of acquisition tax by Hanul Headquarters is a great help to Uljin County's tax revenue, and I hope for continued cooperation for regional development."
Lee Seyong, Director of Hanul Headquarters, stated, "I am pleased to contribute to securing tax revenue for Uljin County. We will operate the power plant safely and faithfully pay local resource facility taxes and others to help expand Uljin County's finances and revitalize the local economy."
