Hanwha Life Financial Services Operates Free Meal Truck for Underprivileged in Dongjak-gu

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) is taking the lead in expanding a culture of sharing by supporting low-income neighbors to eliminate welfare blind spots.

The district announced that on the 23rd, it held a ‘Mobile Food Market’ event at Nodeulnaru Park for about 420 low-income vulnerable households in the area.

This event was organized by Dongjak-gu, hosted by Seoul Itda Food Bank, and sponsored by Hanwha Life Financial Services, providing a community-based welfare service that supports residents in need with donated food through public-private cooperation.

The event was attended by Dongjak-gu Mayor Park Il-ha, Hanwha Life Financial Services Executive Director Park Sang-ho, Seoul Itda Food Bank Center Director Kim Jun-hyuk, and other officials and residents, featuring ▲ free meal trucks ▲ food package sharing ▲ free legal consultations ▲ cultural performances.

To share food with marginalized groups, the event provided a hearty lunch as well as healthy food packages worth about 70,000 won.

Additionally, free legal consultations were offered to local residents facing various legal issues in daily life, providing useful information.

Furthermore, the district is making every effort to activate the operation of the ‘Food Market,’ which supports residents in need with items donated by companies and individuals.

So far, through the Dongjak Food Market (Sadang-ro 17-gil 8), the district has provided donated food once a month to emergency support recipients and lower-income groups, and has held ‘Love Mobile Food Market’ events visiting each neighborhood, striving to ensure healthy eating habits for low-income households and help reduce food expenses.

In the second half of this year, to enhance accessibility to the Food Market, the district plans to establish neighborhood food markets in connection with five large supermarkets in each zone.

Along with this, to ensure timely delivery of goods to residents in need such as low-income, elderly living alone, and disabled individuals, mini food markets accessible near their homes will be installed, expanding the project to build one food market per neighborhood.

Dongjak-gu Mayor Park Il-ha said, “I hope this Mobile Food Market event provided a warm and fulfilling day to all residents who received heartfelt support,” and added, “We will continue to provide welfare services through public-private collaboration and practice the spread of a culture of sharing.”
