Gwangyang-si to Create Forest Trails in Urban Areas

Usan Park, Seosan Park, and Forest Trails You Want to Walk...

Gwangyang City announced on the 22nd that it will continue to promote the natural forest trail creation project this year, following last year, after being selected for the Jeollanam-do public contest project.

Starting with the creation of the ‘Seonghwang Urban Forest Trail for Walking’ in 2022, the city established the ‘Seosan Forest Trail for Walking’ in Gwangyang-eup in 2023.

This year, a nature-friendly leisure space and an environmentally low-impact ‘Forest Trail for Walking’ will be created in Usan Park, Gwangyang-eup.

The ‘Forest Trail for Walking’ project, with a total budget of 170 million KRW including 70 million KRW from provincial funds, aims for completion in July. A new 323-meter walking path will be constructed around the summit area of Usan Park, and the forest trail leading to the summit will be maintained.

Through this, visitors to Usan Park will be able to safely and conveniently enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, including the cypress forest, and Usan Park is expected to become a tourist attraction where the entire Gwangyang-eup can be viewed at a glance from the summit.

Kim Jae-shin, head of the Parks Department, said, "We have been creating nature-friendly healing forest trails throughout the city every year," adding, "We will continue to do our best in creating forest trails so that they can serve as resting places for citizens as well as representative tourist spots of Gwangyang."

Meanwhile, the ‘Forest Trail for Walking’ created last year in Seosan Park is equipped with a forest resting area, allowing hikers to walk safely while enjoying the surrounding scenery such as the Seocheon riverside, receiving favorable reviews.
