Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) has been selected as the preferred negotiation partner for the operation and maintenance project of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Line B.

On the 23rd, KORAIL announced that it plans to sign a management and operation contract next month to operate train services, manage stations, maintain facilities, service railway vehicles, and control operations along the entire GTX-B line for 40 years.

The GTX-B line is a privately funded railway project scheduled to open in 2030. This line spans a total length of 82.8 km, connecting Incheon Songdo Incheon National University Station, Bucheon Sports Complex, Yeouido, Yongsan, Seoul, Cheongnyangni, and extending to Namyangju Maseok Station.

Once the GTX-B line opens, the travel time between Incheon National University Station and Maseok Station, which currently takes about 177 minutes, is expected to be reduced to 58 minutes. It will take 30 minutes from Incheon National University Station to Seoul Station, and 23 minutes from Cheongnyangni Station to Maseok Station.

Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL, said, “The GTX-B line is a key transportation axis running east to west across the metropolitan area. KORAIL will do its best to ensure the stability of this line so that 20 million citizens can enjoy better transportation convenience within the ‘GTX living zone.’”
