The ‘Corporate Investment Promotion Research Group’ of the Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam held its second expert seminar on the 21st, adding depth to its research activities.


This seminar was held under the theme of ‘Creating an Investment Attraction Ecosystem to Promote Corporate Investment in Jinju City,’ with the lecture delivered by Kim Jinwhan, CEO of Hexagon Ventures, an accelerator (AC).

An accelerator refers to a specialized institution that not only provides office space to early-stage startups but also invests in startup capital and serves as a mentor.


During the lecture, CEO Kim analyzed data such as net population migration and the regional distribution of youth startups, highlighting the necessity of revitalizing local startups. He also proposed the establishment of a comprehensive investment information network, the creation of a startup ecosystem, the development of an investment ecosystem, and the operation of a professional private investment attraction team to promote investment in Jinju City.


Members of the research group attentively listened to CEO Kim’s lecture and engaged in heated discussions by asking questions about strategies to activate investment by investment round in Jinju City and ways to establish Jinju-type funds, all aimed at achieving research outcomes.


Yoon Seonggwan, the representative of the research group, commented, “Today, we are in a competitive environment that demands constant innovation and growth in a rapidly changing market,” and diagnosed, “As startups in various fields such as space, aviation, defense, and bio are increasing in Jinju City, it is urgent to propose policy alternatives that support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.”


Yoon also explained that future activities of the research group will be pursued from a comprehensive perspective, ranging from strengthening the investment attraction capabilities of Jinju City’s companies to creating a better local investment environment.


The Corporate Investment Promotion Research Group was formed based on the high interest of council members, with 16 out of 22 Jinju City Council members participating. The group plans to pursue research activities such as ▲industry-academia-government network activities through close cooperation with startup-centered universities ▲visits and benchmarking of excellent startup incubation centers such as Seoul Startup Hub and Pangyo Technovalley, as well as public institutions subject to the second round of relocation ▲and research on customized corporate investment promotion measures for Jinju City.
