Geochang County Holds Capacity Building Training for Public Officials in Charge of Resident Participatory Budgeting Geochang County is conducting capacity-building training for public officials in charge of resident participatory budgeting.

The Resident Budget School was conducted in the form of institutional education to revitalize the Geochang-style participatory budgeting system and a project proposal workshop to identify effective projects. Starting with Gabuk-myeon on the 25th of last month, more than 300 residents from 12 towns and villages, as well as youth, young adults, and vulnerable groups, participated.

This year, in particular, the head of the budget department directly explained the results and plans of the Budget School to public officials in charge of participatory budgeting, aiming to share the outcomes and strengthen practical review capabilities for residents' proposals. In addition, a professional instructor was invited to provide education on ways to advance the participatory budgeting system.

A public official who attended the training said, "This training provided an opportunity to better understand and change perceptions of the system. It was a rewarding time to easily learn about the current status of participatory budgeting, best practices, and the deliberation process for residents' proposals."

Meanwhile, to prepare the 2025 budget, the county is accepting applications for participatory budgeting proposal projects in five areas totaling 2.1 billion KRW through the county office website, mail, and in-person visits until the 24th of this month. To gather residents' opinions on next year's budget, an online and offline survey will be conducted until the 12th of next month.
