On the 22nd, the KOSPI index closed at 2,723.46, down 0.72 points (0.03%) from the previous day. The trading volume was 476.25 million shares, and the trading value was tentatively estimated at 12.1576 trillion won.
On this day, the KOSPI index started in a flat range and fluctuated ahead of the release of the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) minutes for May and Nvidia's earnings announcement.
By investor type, institutions and individuals sold net amounts of 33.4 billion won and 261.6 billion won respectively, while foreigners bought a net amount of 294.4 billion won. Program trading saw a net sale of 1.2 billion won in arbitrage trading and a net purchase of 246.9 billion won in non-arbitrage trading.
By sector, performance was mixed. The transportation equipment sector rose 3.41%, machinery 1.79%, food and beverages 1.77%, construction 1.77%, chemicals 0.65%, electricity and gas 0.55%, telecommunications 0.55%, manufacturing 0.39%, and medical precision 0.19%. On the other hand, the insurance sector fell 5.67%, finance -1.74%, steel and metals -0.9%, and textiles and apparel -0.76%.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks declined. Samsung Electronics fell 0.89%, LG Energy Solution -0.14%, Samsung Biologics -0.26%, Celltrion -0.75%, POSCO Holdings -0.76%, KB Financial Group -3.06%, and NAVER -0.3%. Meanwhile, SK Hynix rose 2.97%, Hyundai Motor 9.49%, and Kia 3.93%.
The KOSDAQ index also closed slightly down. On this day, the KOSDAQ index closed at 845.72, down 0.79 points (0.09%) from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and individuals bought net amounts of 33.7 billion won and 9.6 billion won respectively, while foreigners sold a net amount of 17.9 billion won.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, more stocks rose. EcoPro BM and EcoPro rose 0.25% and 0.93% respectively, Alteogen 1.53%, HLB 1.65%, Enchem 2.99%, Lino Industrial 0.73%, and Rainbow Robotics 0.12%. On the other hand, Celltrion Pharm fell 1.07%, HPSP -1.89%, and Classys -3.18%.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate closed at 1,362.9 won, down 0.4 won from the previous day.
