Jangseong-gun, 'Hwangryonggang Gildongmu Flower Road Festival' Opens from 24th to 26th

Jeonnam Jangseong-gun's representative spring festival, the ‘Hwangryonggang Gildongmu Flower Road Festival,’ will open from the 24th to the 26th along the Hwangryonggang area.

According to the county on the 22nd, the predecessor of the ‘Gildongmu Flower Road Festival’ was the ‘Hong Gil-dong Festival,’ which was held for nearly 20 years based on the fact that the historical figure Hong Gil-dong actually lived in the area.

As times changed and the seasonal flowers of Hwangryonggang became beloved by visitors, the festival combined the Hong Gil-dong Festival with the flower river theme to hold the ‘Gildongmu Flower Road Festival.’

This year’s festival is facing another major change. On the evening of the 25th, when the festival reaches its peak, Jangseong-gun plans to present a ‘Music Festival.’ Since music is the main theme of the festival, various attempts related to it stand out.

First, the main stage site, the former public sports ground, has been newly transformed into the ‘Hwangryong Garden Lawn Plaza.’ A stage was installed in front of the musical fountain by the riverside, and a fan-shaped stepped lawn plaza was created around it.

The entire festival site has been reorganized to match the music performances. It is expected to be widely used for small-scale events and residents’ leisure activities even after the festival.

Next, attention is drawn to the performers who will light up the festival stage. While singers invited to previous Jangseong festivals mainly focused on middle-aged and older fan bases, this year’s music festival will attract musicians that will captivate the ears of ‘music maniacs.’

Performances will follow by ‘10CM,’ who started in the Hongdae indie scene and successfully settled into the mainstream, the romantic four-member band ‘Soran,’ and singer-songwriter Kim Soo-young, who showcased solid skills on ‘Sing Again 3.’

The evening of the opening ceremony on the 24th is also noteworthy. The stage will be decorated with performances by Jung Seo-joo, the winner of ‘Miss Trot 3,’ the popular Hwang Min-woo and Hwang Min-ho brothers who appeared on ‘Immortal Songs,’ and Han Se-il, who sang ‘Years of Motherly Love.’

There are also various attractions. If you plan to visit the festival with pets, ‘Petmilly Land’ near Jangseong Jeilgyo Bridge is recommended. Experiences such as making dog treats, seminars, and demonstration performances are prepared.

Families with children can enjoy the children’s playground, air bounce, experiences, and performances at ‘Hwangmir Playland’ upstream.

Across from the festival site, the Healing Herb Garden offers world cultural play experiences, performances, and art exhibitions. Also, near the Cultural Bridge flower field, a ‘Book Campnic’ space is set up where children and parents can quietly read books together.

Rich attractions await, including the ‘Emotional Transcription’ experience prepared by the Jeonnam Office of Education’s Jangseong Library and book exhibitions at the Jangseong County Library.

Connections with the local economy also draw attention. Jangseong-gun has designated the seats in front of the main festival stage as ‘Win-Win Impression Seats.’ Visitors who spend more than 50,000 won in the Jangseong area and bring their receipts by the 25th will be given paper bands to wear on their wrists, allowing them to sit in these seats on a first-come, first-served basis.

During the festival period, the official online shopping mall of Jangseong-gun, ‘Jangseong Mall,’ will also offer a special 30% discount.

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “We plan to develop the festival into one that features world-class musicians by using this year’s music festival as a stepping stone,” and added, “We hope for much interest, support, and visits to the newly transformed ‘Jangseong Hwangryonggang Gildongmu Flower Road Festival.’”
