Nong-eochon Gong Haenam·Wando Branch Conducts Pollution Response Drill for Water Quality Contamination Incidents

The Korea Rural Community Corporation Haenam-Wando Branch (Branch Manager Kim Taeheon) announced on the 22nd that it conducted an integrated control training using control drones to remove green algae and prepare for water pollution accidents caused by oil at Shindeok Reservoir in Haenam the previous day.

The training was conducted jointly with branch employees and emergency mobilization partner companies, focusing on preventing the spread of damage through rapid initial response in the event of an actual water pollution accident and strengthening control response capabilities.

The training involved removing green algae on the water surface caused by the inflow of pollutants from the upper stream of the reservoir and high water temperatures, by directly spraying eco-friendly green algae remover on the water surface using drone equipment.

In particular, drones have the advantage of being able to quickly spray chemicals even in areas that are difficult to access, ensuring the safety of workers.

The Haenam-Wando Branch has conducted control operations 15 times since the completion of the water quality improvement project in 2018 to improve the water quality of Shindeok Reservoir, and has installed and operated three phosphorus removal devices and water circulation devices year-round to flexibly respond to green algae prevention, removal, and water quality improvement demands.

Branch Manager Kim Taeheon said, “Drones were utilized in this training to carry out green algae control safely and efficiently,” adding, “We will continuously strengthen surveillance activities to proactively respond at the early stages of water pollution and promptly conduct control operations with drones when green algae occur, making every effort to supply and manage eco-friendly clean water.”
