"The most important factor in the transition to artificial intelligence (AI) is data, which will become the greatest asset representing competitiveness."

On the 22nd, Kwon Young-jun, Head of Research at Samsung SDS (Vice President), explained this at the '2024 Asia Future Enterprise Forum' held at Lotte Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Vice President Kwon identified four key elements for a successful AI transition: data, security, cost, and performance. Among these, he emphasized that data is the most important. He said, "There are many open-source models and methodologies publicly available among AI models, but specialized data ultimately becomes a company's competitiveness and its greatest asset."

Vice President Kwon predicted that the transition to AI will strengthen corporate competitiveness. He stated, "AI transition plays an important role in enhancing a company's competitiveness and productivity. In the past, there was much skepticism about expression through computing, but now large language models (LLMs) that understand and use human language have emerged."

Samsung SDS has also launched generative AI services 'Brity Copilot' and 'Fabrics' to assist companies in their AI transition. Brity Copilot applies generative AI technology to frequently used email, messenger, and document management. Fabrics is a cloud-based platform that connects existing internal systems and generative AI in a one-stop manner. Additionally, it provides integrated support from providing the necessary environment for AI construction, selecting LLMs, model fine-tuning, model building, maintenance, and AI utilization training.

In the case of Samsung SDS, productivity effects through LLMs have appeared in various tasks such as code generation. Vice President Kwon said, "It is not only used for code generation but also for software testing, and AI handles parts that humans might miss, resulting in highly secure outcomes."

He also emphasized the importance of systematic classification when AI such as LLMs learns data. Vice President Kwon added, "Companies need to establish data governance on how to collect and utilize data and what data to designate as confidential. Establishing a system for various permissions will enable successful AI training and fine-tuning."
