Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that, in celebration of the 23rd Food Safety Day, it conducted a realistic simulation drill at a group cafeteria in Jinhae-gu, assuming an actual food poisoning outbreak.
This simulation involved the city's Public Health and Hygiene Division, the Jinhae-gu Cultural Hygiene Division, and the Jinhae Public Health Center, and was carried out according to a scenario that identified "eggs" as the suspected food item.
The main focus of the drill included ▲reporting, registering, and disseminating information about the food poisoning outbreak ▲analyzing the menu and identifying symptomatic individuals ▲collecting samples from humans and food ▲checking egg shell labeling and conducting hygiene inspections. After the drill, each department shared their opinions on issues or areas for improvement.
Additionally, Changwon Special City designated a two-week Food Safety Week starting from May 7, during which it provided information on food poisoning prevention through the city website and social media, and held a "Food Safety Practice Pledge" challenge event and a food poisoning prevention promotion campaign.
Son Gilgwang, head of the Public Health and Hygiene Division, said, "Through this simulation drill, we will strengthen the capabilities of each department and establish a rapid response system," and added, "As the risk of food poisoning increases in the summer, we will do our best to manage prevention so that citizens can stay healthy and safe."
