Yongsan-gu Proposes 91.5 Billion KRW for 2024 1st Supplementary Budget

Disaster and Safety Budgets Managed Separately Within Project Budget
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) will submit the first supplementary budget proposal for 2024 to the Yongsan-gu Council on the 22nd.
The first supplementary budget for 2024 amounts to 708.6 billion KRW, an increase of 91.5 billion KRW compared to the original budget. The general account increased by 89.9 billion KRW (14.82%) to 687.6 billion KRW compared to the approved budget.
Additional 15.7 billion KRW allocated for Disaster and Safety Budget
The district allocated 15.7 billion KRW for disaster and safety-related expenses in this supplementary budget. The related budget includes measures against natural disasters such as wind and flood damage, heavy snow, and cold waves, including ▲33 billion KRW for sewer structures and rainwater inlet construction within the district ▲1.5 billion KRW for sewer pipeline improvement works at four locations including around Seoul Automobile High School ▲1.2 billion KRW for installation of road heating systems in winter snow removal vulnerable areas.
Additionally, for social disasters and safety accidents, the budget includes ▲3.4 billion KRW for pedestrian environment improvement projects such as the Yongridan-gil companion street creation project ▲1.1 billion KRW for upgrading old security lights and improving road lighting ▲400 million KRW for installation of new pedestrian safety fences and maintenance of old fences ▲50 million KRW for replacement of old elevator distribution panels.
Separately, to prevent disasters and respond quickly and proactively in case of disaster occurrence, the district plans to increase the disaster and emergency reserve fund by 42.7 billion KRW, making every effort to ensure the safety of residents.
Additional 19.4 billion KRW allocated for Social Welfare
To enhance residents’ welfare, the social welfare sector includes allocations such as ▲8.1 billion KRW for livelihood and housing benefits ▲2.8 billion KRW for safety environment creation and operation of Hyochang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center ▲600 million KRW for daycare center operation support ▲200 million KRW for home childcare allowance support ▲500 million KRW for support of elderly welfare facilities including senior centers, elderly welfare centers, and nursing homes.
Additional 1.9 billion KRW allocated for Education, Culture, and Tourism
In the education, culture, and tourism sectors, the budget includes ▲700 million KRW for school environment improvement projects and establishment of informatization education infrastructure ▲35 million KRW for support of lifelong education vouchers for the disabled ▲25 million KRW for meal support at Seoul Automobile High School ▲400 million KRW for tourism special zone revitalization projects such as tourism content development and landmark creation ▲200 million KRW for support of sports activities for the disabled ▲100 million KRW for museum exhibition operations.
Additional 4 billion KRW allocated for Health Sector
In the health sector, the budget plans to invest ▲2.3 billion KRW for the establishment of the tentative Mind Health Center and mind investment support projects ▲60 million KRW for medical expense support for rare disease patients ▲56 million KRW for AI and IoT-based senior health management projects ▲30 million KRW for emergency disinfection costs due to the full-scale relocation of Hannam 3 District, contributing to the health promotion of residents.
The supplementary budget proposal will be reviewed at the 1st regular meeting of the 290th Yongsan-gu Council session in June this year and finalized on June 24.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “This supplementary budget prioritizes residents’ safety and welfare,” adding, “We will manage the budget more carefully and meticulously to ensure that residents’ precious taxes are not wasted.”
