Among the 5 harmful businesses in Junggok-dong that closed last year, 3 recently changed their business types
Since the 8th local government term, harmful environment improvement activities have been carried out, including eradication campaigns and joint inspections by civilians, government, and police
Joint inspections will be strengthened and support measures developed to continuously promote maintenance and improvement projects
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is promoting a project to organize and improve harmful businesses (commonly known as tea houses), resulting in the removal of five harmful businesses in the Junggok-dong area, with three of them successfully converted to different types of businesses.
The street with harmful businesses in Junggok-dong has been causing a provocative atmosphere that negatively affects youth and hinders local development, leading to continuous complaints from residents.
In response, the district formed a related department T/F team in October 2022 and has established a public-private cooperation system through constant communication with building owners of harmful businesses and local residents.
Additionally, activities such as ▲ campaigns to eradicate harmful businesses ▲ joint night inspections by civilians, government, and police are continuously conducted to eliminate illegal harmful businesses and encourage business type changes.
As a result, five harmful businesses voluntarily closed last year, and among them, three have newly started operating as resident-friendly establishments.
Going forward, Gwangjin-gu plans to strengthen crackdowns on harmful businesses while discovering support measures for closed businesses to encourage business conversion, accelerating the organization and improvement of harmful businesses.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We thank the building owners and local residents who actively cooperated in the removal of harmful businesses,” and added, “Gwangjin-gu will continue to do its best to create a healthy educational environment and make streets where residents can walk safely with peace of mind.”
