Jeonbuk Jinan-gun 'Makgeolli Festival' Preparations Progressing Smoothly

Jinan Makgeolli and Delicious Anju Accompanied by Lively Performances

Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk is busy preparing for the 'Jinan Plateau Makgeolli Festival, Romantic Pocha' event, which will be held for two days from May 31 to June 1 at the northern Myeisan Tourist Complex.

According to the county on the 21st, following the completion of recruitment for food cart operators last month, a 'Safety, Hygiene, and Food Cart Operation Precautions' training was conducted on the 17th. Afterwards, participants visited the advanced food cart site at Jeonju Nambu Market Night Market. During the site visit, attendees learned in detail about dress code and hygiene, pre-processing and cooking of ingredients, packaging and customer service, waste disposal, and fire safety management when operating food carts.

The Jinan Plateau Makgeolli Festival, held for the first time this year, offers tastings of various traditional liquors including the region’s specialty traditional drinks such as strawberry makgeolli and red ginseng makgeolli. Food carts will also operate, offering a variety of makgeolli side dishes worth about 10,000 won, developed and prepared directly by local businesses and residents. Presenting a receipt from purchasing side dishes at the food carts will grant unlimited makgeolli servings. The county is smoothly preparing for food cart production and menu selection, makgeolli tastings and event preparations, participant safety management, and cooperation with institutions.

Along with experiencing local traditional liquors and food, the festival will feature participatory events where tourists can actively engage and communicate, such as 'Challenge! Makgeolli Speed Drinking,' 'I am the Makgeolli Sommelier,' 'Surprise! Masked Singer,' and 'Tell Your Star Radio Wish.' Performances including Gogo Janggu and invited singers are also scheduled to add excitement and joy, promising delightful memories on early summer evenings in Jinan Plateau.

During the event, buses to Jinan will operate at 2:30 PM from Jeonju Goryeo Hospital and Hoseong-dong Jinan Local Food Direct Market, respectively. At 8:30 PM, a healing tourist bus will run from the northern Myeisan Tourist Complex in Jinan to Jeonju. The bus fare of 10,000 won will be fully refunded in local gift certificates, which can be used at the event venue.
