Chosun University Holds Academic Conference Celebrating 10th Anniversary of Our Philosophy Research Institute Establishment

The Institute of Korean Philosophy at Chosun University will hold an academic conference on the 31st to commemorate its 10th anniversary, under the theme "The Foundation and Direction of 21st Century Korean Philosophy."

This academic conference, held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Institute of Korean Philosophy, will reflect on the research achievements of the past decade and look toward the future by inviting distinguished scholars to discuss various topics.


Composed of three sessions, the event will begin with a keynote lecture titled "Where Should 21st Century Korean Philosophy Go?" by Professor Emeritus Kim Gyo-bin of Hoseo University, followed by seven thematic presentations: ▲ "The Philosophy of Gong (公), the Journey of Confucianism" (Professor Hong Won-sik, Keimyung University) ▲ "Counter-Humanitarianism and the Ecological Transition Path of 21st Century Korean Great Democratic Community" (Professor Na Jong-seok, Yonsei University) ▲ "A Critical Review of Digital Citizenship Discourse in Korean Society" (Professor Jung Won-seop, Gyeongnam National University) ▲ "Why Should Humanists Contemplate 'Unification'?" (Professor Kim Sung-min, Konkuk University) ▲ "The Current Status and Development of Korean Philosophy in English-speaking Regions" (Professor Kim Han-ra, Sogang University) ▲ "The Expansion of Korean Philosophy through Glocal Communication" (Professor Park So-jung, Sungkyunkwan University) ▲ "A New Perspective on Intellectual History Narratives: Family and Women" (Professor Lee Sook-in, Seoul National University). The conference will conclude with a comprehensive discussion chaired by Professor Seo Yoo-seok of Howon University.


Lee Cheol-seung, director of the Institute of Korean Philosophy at Chosun University, said, "Since establishing the Institute of Korean Philosophy in 2014, we have covered various research topics and expanded the consensus on 'Korean Philosophy' through exchanges with many institutions." He added, "We will continue to strive to broaden the horizons of 'Korean Philosophy' research."
