Bucheon Jungdong Station East and West Sides Designated as 'Urban Public Housing Complex District'... 3,216 Housing Units to be Supplied

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated the east and west sides of Jungdong Station as urban public housing complex districts on the 17th.

The urban public housing complex project is a policy led by the public sector to increase highly preferred housing within urban areas by granting benefits such as floor area ratio in aging urban areas where private redevelopment is difficult, and to quickly supply housing. Currently, the project is being promoted at a total of 57 candidate sites nationwide, targeting approximately 91,000 housing units.

The two sites near Jungdong Station designated this time secured consent from more than two-thirds of residents (more than half of the land area) after being designated as urban public housing complex project sites in July last year, and completed the district designation process through reviews by the Central Urban Planning Committee and the Central Land Expropriation Committee.

The city plans to supply a total of 3,216 housing units through this project, with 1,536 units on the east side and 1,680 units on the west side of Jungdong Station.

Meanwhile, Bucheon City is promoting the supply of 1,628 households in the Bucheon Wonmi urban complex project leading district, which received the nation’s first project plan approval in December last year, and is carrying out urban complex projects in a total of seven locations including Jungdong Station.

A Bucheon City official stated, "With the designation of the two urban public housing complex districts on the east and west sides of Jungdong Station, we will closely cooperate with related organizations to create hubs for quality housing supply and urban function restructuring," adding, "We will do our best to provide a stable living environment as soon as possible."
