BNK Some Franchise Star Wishes Success for Junior Basketball Team Members
Dongju Girls' Middle School in Busan (Principal Kim Kyunghee) received a scholarship donation of 20 million KRW from alumna Ahn Hyeji, who is currently playing as a point guard for Busan BNK Sum, on the 14th.
Ahn Hyeji graduated from Dongju Girls' Middle School, continued to Dongju Girls' High School, and began her professional basketball career in the WKBL as the first overall pick in the 2014 season draft. After playing for KDB Life Insurance and OK Savings Bank, she is now a franchise star for BNK Sum.
Since 2019, Ahn has won the WKBL Assist Award four times and, after qualifying as a free agent this season, re-signed with Busan BNK Sum for a total of 310 million KRW over four years.
Hwang Seondong, who was Ahn's homeroom teacher during her second year at Dongju Girls' Middle School, recalled, "She was an impressive player who worked hard despite her small stature. I remember her as a kind student who always stepped up to help classmates in need."
Ahn Hyeji said, "I hope this scholarship helps the basketball team students improve their skills, and I wish they never lose their dream of becoming basketball players, even when training is tough and difficult. I also wish for excellent results from our school athletes at the upcoming National Youth Sports Festival."
