Russian Man with Blue and Yellow Dyed Hair
Court: "Expression of Negative Attitude Toward Russian Military"
A Russian man who dyed his hair in the colors of the Ukrainian flag was fined.
On the 20th (local time), The Moscow Times reported that Stanislav Netesov, who lives in Moscow, Russia, was recently found guilty of "dishonor towards the military."
The court pointed out that Netesov's hairstyle, dyed in green, blue, and yellow, "expressed a negative attitude towards the Russian military." The blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag were seen as showing resentment against the Russian military. Ultimately, the court sentenced Netesov to a fine of 50,000 rubles (about 750,000 KRW).
However, Netesov explained that his hairstyle had nothing to do with Ukraine and that he had been dyeing his hair bright colors since 2017. He claimed to the local human rights organization 'OVD-Info' that his hair color was a coincidence. It is also reported that he told the police he does not support the Ukrainian regime.
After dyeing his hair, Netesov was attacked at a bus stop last April. When he visited the police station to report the incident, the police decided to prosecute him after seeing his dyed hair.
Meanwhile, since starting the war with Ukraine, Russia has been cracking down on anti-war opinions with unprecedented repression. In November last year, a man who wrote the phrase "No War" with his hand in the snow piled up in front of the skating rink in Moscow's Gorky Park was detained for 10 days.
