First Market Opening on 23-24 at COEX East Gate Lobby, 20 Companies Selling On-site and Promoting Products via Live Commerce
Six Events Scheduled This Year...Second Market Partners with Hyundai Department Store for Win-Win Model Between Large Corporations and Small Businesses
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the ‘Donghaeng Market’ six times this year, providing small business owners with opportunities to open sales channels through on-site markets and live commerce.
The first event will take place from May 23 to 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the lobby of the East Gate at COEX. Twenty companies selling pet care medical devices, cosmetics, fashion accessories, baby toys, accessories, kitchenware, and food will set up on-site sales booths. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a professional show host will conduct live commerce introducing the products of participating companies.
This year, unlike last year, residents of the district will also participate as sellers. Previously, only small business owners with business locations in Gangnam-gu could participate, but now the threshold has been lowered to include sellers who are Gangnam-gu residents but have business locations in other areas.
Ten companies will participate this time, promoting and selling their products such as pet supplies, handmade soap, and ceramics.
Additionally, to attract visitors, busking performances, on-site buyer events, and experience programs will be held. Experience programs such as custom doll making and coloring postcards are available to anyone who adds the ‘Gangnam-gu Office KakaoTalk channel’ on-site and participates in SNS events.
The second Donghaeng Market aims to create a win-win model between large local corporations and small business owners by partnering with Hyundai Department Store, a major company in the district. It will be held on June 21?22 at the Sky Garden of Hyundai Department Store Trade Center Branch, introducing small business products to department store visitors. The third event will be held for four days from August 22 to 25 at COEX Hall C (Hand Art Korea Exhibition Hall). The remaining fourth to sixth events are scheduled for the second half of this year at COEX, Gangnam Square, and other locations. Detailed schedules can be found on the district office website.
The district is continuously recruiting small business owners to participate in the Donghaeng Market. Applicants can fill out the application form on the district office website and submit it along with a mail-order business registration certificate and product introduction documents. Final participants will be selected through a review by the regional council’s working committee. For more details, please contact the Regional Economy Division.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We have prepared a place where local small business owners can meet residents directly and promote their products. We will expand the meaning of ‘Donghaeng’ by fostering mutual growth between small business owners and consumers, as well as between large corporations and small business owners, creating a thriving local commercial district.”
