For the Future of Geumcheon-gu Youth... Establishing a Youth Growth Support Model

Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that it will promote the ‘School and Community Youth Growth Support Project’ at the Doksan Youth Culture House (Director Baek Su-yeon) to help the healthy growth of youth.

The ‘School and Community Youth Growth Support Project’ is a three-year initiative funded by national government support to establish a cooperative system with youth institutions and the local community, create a foundation for youth policies, and develop growth support models.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family selected 12 institutions nationwide as executing agencies for the ‘2024 School and Community Youth Growth Support Project,’ with only Geumcheon-gu and Seodaemun-gu among Seoul’s autonomous districts being chosen.

The district receives 10 million KRW in project funds from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to organize and operate a youth growth support council, conduct youth policy demand surveys, hold youth public forums, and produce and manage a career resource map.

The ‘Youth Growth Support Council’ discusses youth-related policies and projects with youth, local elementary, middle, and high schools, youth-related organizations, and village career mentor groups. It holds regular or ad hoc meetings to share human and material resources, provide tailored youth career program linkage support, and promote career mentor activities in fields such as science, beauty, cultural arts, and finance.

The ‘Youth Policy Demand Survey’ will investigate the living conditions and activity needs of Geumcheon-gu youth until September, analyze the survey results, and produce a report to be reflected in youth policies.

The ‘Youth Public Forum’ is scheduled to be held after the completion of the policy demand survey, where about 100 participants including youth, schools, and local residents will freely present and discuss opinions on youth policies based on the survey results.

The ‘Career Resource Map Production’ will operate from October to December, creating a ‘Village Youth Career Resource Map’ to help youth easily access necessary career information, and publishing a career guidebook featuring interviews with career mentors.

Additionally, as a district-specialized project, it operates the establishment of a career mentor network and participatory career activities.

The ‘Career Mentor Network Establishment’ project discovers village career mentors, forms mentor groups by field, and links them with youth career activities.

The ‘Participatory Career Activities’ project is conducted in connection with schools, such as through the free semester system and career clubs, and operates through participatory activities like interviews with career mentors and the production of career guidebooks.

Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Through this project, we will spare no effort to actively support youth so that they can set their dreams and goals and move forward toward the future."
