Seongdong-gu Repairs Defective Manholes with New Technology Construction Method... Preventing Road Safety Accidents

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) is promoting the maintenance of defective manholes to create a pleasant and safe road environment.

The defective manhole maintenance project is aimed at preventing safety accidents and creating a pleasant road environment by preemptively repairing manholes where the top of the manhole and the road pavement surface do not align in height or where the surrounding area is damaged, posing a risk of accidents.

The maintenance targets include defective manholes that pose safety risks due to ▲height differences and subsidence around the manhole ▲damage to the road surface and manhole ▲noise at the junction between the road surface and manhole ▲and vibration occurrence.

The district selected a total of 71 sites for maintenance based on requests from residents and a full survey by each manhole management agency, and plans to complete maintenance and repairs by December using eco-friendly new technology methods that reduce waste generation compared to drilling methods.

Seongdong-gu has been carrying out manhole maintenance every year to prevent safety accidents, completing maintenance on a total of 86 manholes last year.

Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "We will do our best to prevent safety accidents for drivers through continuous defective manhole maintenance and to create a pleasant road environment."
