May 25th, 1 PM, Commemoration Ceremony at Children's Grand Park Guuimun Lawn Plaza
Jang Guk-hwan, Son In-chang, Shim Jeong-ja, and Ilsan TS Co., Ltd. (CEO Kwon Seung-yong) Selected as District Residents Awardees
Fun-filled Activities Including PangPang Playground, Family Writing Contest, and Family Film Festival
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the ‘29th Gwangjin Residents' Day’ commemorative ceremony at the Guuimun Lawn Square in Children’s Grand Park on May 25, the ‘Gwangjin Residents' Day.’
Gwangjin Residents' Day commemorates the designation of Achasanseong, a representative landmark of the district, as Historic Site No. 234 in 1995. The event is held annually to boost residents' pride and promote communication and harmony. This year, in addition to the commemorative ceremony, a variety of cultural events that the whole family can participate in have been added.
The Residents' Day ceremony, starting at 1 p.m., will begin with an opening ceremony, followed by the reading of the Residents' Charter and the Residents' Awards ceremony. The Gwangjin Residents' Awards are given annually on Residents' Day to exemplary residents and organizations who have dedicated themselves to serving the local community as role models. This year, in the individual category, Mr. Jang Guk-hwan was selected for the economy and community development sector, Mr. Son In-chang for the volunteer and donation sector, and Ms. Shim Jeong-ja for filial piety. In the organization category, ㈜Ilsan TS (CEO Kwon Seung-yong) will receive the award in the volunteer and donation sector.
A congratulatory performance will follow the awards ceremony. Singer and comedian Kim Na-hee and the popera group ‘Vollare’ have been invited to enliven the commemorative event with dance and song.
In addition, various side events will be held to celebrate Gwangjin Residents' Day. From 10 a.m., ‘Pangpang Playground’ will operate at the Four Seasons Garden in Children’s Grand Park. For children aged 7 and older to play freely, the event will feature ▲sports air bounce installations ▲mini playgrounds such as chip stacking ▲clay art making experience booths.
At 2 p.m., a family essay contest and drawing competition will be held at the Guuimun Lawn Square. Participation is possible through online pre-registration and on-site registration, with the theme announced on the day of the event.
Following that, from 4 p.m., a family film festival will take place, screening ‘Super Mario Brothers’ and ‘The Boss Baby 2.’ All residents can watch, and mat rentals will be available. A corner of the venue will be set up with experience spaces such as ‘face painting,’ ‘sticker tattoos,’ ‘stylish calligraphy,’ and ‘photo booths’ to keep everyone entertained.
Moreover, various sports and leisure activities that can be enjoyed all day long are prepared, including △Gwangjin Family Hangang Trail Walking Contest (Ttukseom Hangang Park, 7:30 a.m. on the 25th) △Festival with Pets (Gwangjin Supnaru Park, 25th?26th) △Jump Rope Festival (Children’s Grand Park, 10:30 a.m. on the 26th).
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “In celebration of Family Month, we have prepared a place for all residents to come together and enjoy harmony, so please enjoy it to the fullest.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to create a happy Gwangjin-gu that develops through closer communication with residents.”
