According to the police on the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted a psychological analysis on Choi by deploying a profiler and administering the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R), concluding that he does not exhibit psychopathic tendencies. The police plan to provide the analysis results to the prosecution, which is conducting a detention investigation of Kim.

The Psychopathy Checklist-Revised is a test that quantifies psychopathic personality traits such as coldness, impulsivity, lack of empathy, and irresponsibility. It consists of 20 items and is scored out of 40 points. Generally, a score above 25 classifies a person as a psychopath.

On May 6th, around 5 p.m., Choi stabbed his same-age girlfriend Nam Mo (25) multiple times with a weapon on the rooftop of a building located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, killing her. In the police investigation, he stated that he committed the crime after his girlfriend said she wanted to break up. Choi was known for having achieved a perfect score on the natural sciences section of the 2018 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT). As he is currently known to be enrolled in a major medical school, his past has come under renewed scrutiny.
