Business Hours Restored After 15 Months
Q1 Earnings 'Earning Surprise'
Homeplus and Lotte Mart Have No Plans Yet
Emart announced on the 20th that starting from the 1st of next month, it will extend the operating hours of 68 stores by one hour, from 10 PM to 11 PM. This marks a return to the original hours one year after the shortened hours were implemented in April last year.
An Emart representative stated, "To enhance customer shopping convenience, we have decided to first adjust the operating hours of 68 large stores selected based on the characteristics of their commercial districts," adding, "The decision to extend the operating hours of the remaining 60 stores has not yet been made." The targeted stores include Emart Wolgye Branch, Cheonggyecheon Branch, Eunpyeong Branch, Mokdong Branch, Yeongdeungpo Branch, Guro Branch, Garden Five Branch, Jukjeon Branch, Yongsan Branch, Wangsimni Branch, Yeonsu Branch, among others, totaling 68 locations.
Meanwhile, Emart, which had experienced poor performance, posted consolidated sales of 7.2067 trillion KRW and an operating profit of 47.1 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year. These figures represent increases of 1.0% and 245%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The increase in the number of Emart visitors is analyzed to have driven the improvement in the core business's profitability.
Currently, Homeplus and Lotte Mart, which operate until 10 PM, are reported to have no plans to adjust their operating hours yet.
