Hyundai Asset Management has achieved its highest record in equity-related net assets since its establishment. This is mainly attributed to gaining investors' trust through stable management of the investment organization and excellent long-term investment performance.
Hyundai Asset Management announced on the 20th that its equity-related net assets recently surpassed 1 trillion KRW, the largest scale since its founding. This represents more than double the amount compared to the end of 2022. The rapid increase in net asset size within a short period is explained by steady investment performance generation and capital inflow due to an expanding investor base.
Hyundai Asset Management’s flagship fund, the ‘Hyundai Small and Medium Enterprises Fund,’ has proven its management capabilities by recording the highest mid- to long-term returns among domestic equity funds (as of the end of March 2024). The fund and discretionary assets also maintain favorable performance levels, attracting funds from numerous institutional investors such as major pension funds, variable insurance, mutual aid associations, and central associations.
In 2022, Hyundai Asset Management entered the ETF market under the ‘UNICORN’ brand. The ‘Generative AI Small and Medium Enterprises Active ETF,’ the first of its kind launched domestically, surpassed 55 billion KRW in net assets within six weeks of listing. Earlier this year, the company consecutively launched the country’s only ‘Post-IPO Active ETF,’ solidifying its position as an active ETF manager with a distinctive identity.
Hyundai Asset Management views its efforts to strengthen traditional asset management as beginning to bear fruit. In 2021, the company established the Equity Management Group and recruited former Trust Asset Management’s Head of Equity Management, Executive Director Yang Byung Lee, as the new group head. Based on his extensive management experience, Executive Director Lee expanded organizational stability and built a robust investment process.
The Equity Management Group consists of the Equity Management Headquarters, which mainly manages domestic equity products, and the Solution Headquarters, which primarily manages medium-risk, medium-return products. The heads of each headquarters are Executive Director Sanghyun Jo (Equity Management Headquarters), formerly of Samsung Active Asset Management, and Executive Director Seongmin Eun (Solution Headquarters), who previously served as head of research centers at DS Investment & Securities and Meritz Securities, respectively. They incorporate their expertise and know-how into the management.
Yang Byung Lee, Head of Hyundai Asset Management’s Equity Management Group, stated, "We focused on maximizing investment performance and developing and managing equity products to satisfy investors through strengthening research and management capabilities."
