Kim Chang-gi, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, Urges Leading R&D and Facility Investment in 'Secondary Batteries' with High Tax Credit Rates

LG Energy Solution and Power Logics Site Visit

Kim Chang-gi, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, urged on the 20th, "The secondary battery sector is included in the scope of national strategic technologies and can benefit from a high tax credit rate, so please take the lead in investing in the future, such as research and development and facility investment."


On the same day, Commissioner Kim visited LG Energy Solution's Energy Plant and Power Logics, which manufactures secondary battery materials and components, located in the Ochang Science Industrial Complex, to listen to opinions from the field.

This visit was arranged to check whether the National Tax Service's tax support is practically helpful at industrial sites in implementing government tasks to foster advanced industries such as semiconductors and secondary batteries as future strategic industries.


At the meeting, Kim Dong-myung, CEO of LG Energy Solution, said, "The market size of secondary batteries has been continuously expanding recently, and since countries around the world are competing in technology, support is urgently needed," requesting comprehensive government interest and support.


Commissioner Kim also visited the production plant of Power Logics, which manufactures secondary battery protection circuits and battery packs, to review tax support details and hear opinions from the field.


Jang Dong-hoon, CEO of Power Logics, expressed gratitude, saying, "Through the National Tax Service's R&D tax credit pre-assessment service, we were able to resolve tax uncertainties in advance and focus on research and development activities without worrying about taxes."


In response, Commissioner Kim said, "We will continue to actively support companies so that they can focus solely on business activities without concerns about tax issues by providing services such as R&D tax credit pre-assessment and corporate tax credit and exemption consulting to enhance the competitiveness of future strategic industries."


Meanwhile, the National Tax Service plans to continuously support companies in future strategic industrial sectors such as secondary batteries to actively carry out research and development and facility investment.
