Expansion of ESG Management Including Greenhouse Gas Reduction
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yonghak) announced on the 20th that it will promote the installation of eco-friendly electric vehicle charging facilities in 12 of its rental apartment complexes.
According to the revised Eco-Friendly Vehicle Act, apartment complexes are required to install electric vehicle charging facilities for at least 2% of their total parking spaces by January 2025.
BMC comprehensively reviewed the current status of electric vehicle ownership and charging facilities among residents and selected 12 rental apartment complexes as new installation sites.
This charging facility installation project will be carried out as part of the Ministry of Environment's 'Slow Charging Facility Subsidy Project.' Last year, BMC completed a pilot installation of seven chargers in two complexes (Dongnae and Dadae 3 District) under the subsidy project and will expand the installation to 12 complexes this year.
By May, BMC will select an installation contractor, conduct on-site consulting, determine the products and quantities according to the subsidy operation guidelines, and review the surrounding environment and power supply conditions before proceeding with the installation. The installation is expected to take about five months, and from November, residents will be able to use the charging facilities in the complex parking lots.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, "Electric vehicles, as one of the measures to achieve carbon neutrality and respond to climate change, are considered a very important element in the spread of ESG management," and added, "We will take the lead in enhancing resident convenience and expanding the adoption of electric vehicles by introducing charging facilities."
