Actively Promoting Tourism Content Related to Yeosu World Island Expo

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) conducted cruise attraction activities at the Port-Sales event held in Tokyo, Japan from the 16th to the 17th.

Organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, this event was attended by a total of 15 companies, including Japanese national shipping companies such as NYK Cruise and Japan Grace, foreign shipping companies such as MSC, Princess, and Costa, as well as major Japanese travel agencies, cruise-related organizations, and associations.

Yeosu City participated jointly with five major ports of call?Busan, Incheon, Sokcho in Gangwon, and Jeju?as well as Seosan in Chungnam and Pohang in Gyeongbuk, conducting one-on-one B2B consultations with Japanese cruise industry stakeholders.

Along with introducing Yeosu Port’s infrastructure, the city actively promoted tourism resources and provided information on cruise incentive programs, carrying out customized marketing targeting shipping companies and travel agencies to enhance recognition as a port of call.

In particular, ahead of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, since shipping company arrivals are confirmed 1 to 2 years in advance, the city introduced unique tourism content exclusive to Yeosu, such as the newly launched SeomSeom Yeosu-gil - Nangdo course’s island panoramic tour, alongside event promotions.

A city official stated, “This event provided an opportunity to showcase Yeosu’s tourism resources to the Japanese cruise industry, comparable to Busan and Jeju. With the expected growth of the cruise tourism industry following the recovery of international group tourism, we will devote all efforts to revitalizing the cruise industry, including improving Yeosu Port’s reception capabilities.”

Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, a total of two international cruises arrived at Yeosu Port, and arrivals of the French Ponant company’s Le Soleal in October and Japan’s NYK Line’s Asuka II in November are scheduled.
