Senco, a specialist company in electrochemical gas sensors, announced on the 20th that it has received a purchase order for a single-item export contract worth 4 billion KRW for the ‘SGT (portable single gas detector)’ from Crowcon Detection Instrument Ltd. in the UK.
This purchase order also includes a new contract with ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), the largest state-owned oil company in Abu Dhabi. Starting this year, Senco plans to continuously supply 80,000 SGT units to ADNOC over four years.
Crowcon is a subsidiary of the UK’s Halma Group and a global gas detector distributor. They receive Senco’s SGT products through an ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) arrangement and sell them in key Middle Eastern countries. Last year, Crowcon supplied SGT products worth approximately 2.6 billion KRW from Senco.
A Senco representative stated, “In the oil and gas market, which is currently the largest market for safety devices, repeat purchases from existing customers are continuing, leading to a steady increase in supply volume.” Through this, the product’s excellent performance has been recognized in overseas markets, and the company expressed confidence in expanding overseas sales in the future.
Ha Seung-cheol, CEO of Senco, emphasized, “Through this contract, we confirmed that increased brand awareness leads to expanded market share in the oil & gas sector.”
He added, “Recently, we sent evaluation samples for actual testing to Chinese companies Huawei and SMIC for semiconductor fab product supply, marking the final countdown to entering the Chinese semiconductor market. We will do our best to complete a successful evaluation over six months and begin full-scale product supply.”
Meanwhile, the samples recently sent by Senco to Huawei and SMIC will be installed in Huawei’s 12 semiconductor fabs and SMIC’s fabs, the largest foundry company in China. After up to six months of evaluation, Senco’s gas detectors will be primarily installed in the semiconductor fabs under construction by Huawei and SMIC.
