Sancheong Rural Workforce Brokerage Center Helps Address Farm Labor Shortage

326 Farms and 1,434 Transactions Brokered This Year
Performance Expected to Rise During Peak Farming Season
Contributing to Cost Reduction and Income Growth

The Sancheong-gun Rural Workforce Brokerage Center in Gyeongnam is playing a significant role in alleviating labor shortages for local farms.

According to Sancheong-gun on the 20th, the county was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' Rural Workforce Brokerage Center (rural type) public project, and subsequently opened the Sancheong-gun Rural Workforce Brokerage Center (hereafter referred to as the Workforce Brokerage Center) in March last year.

Since its opening, the Workforce Brokerage Center has been a reliable support for farms experiencing labor shortages by consistently supplying manpower.

Last year, the center brokered 6,139 labor placements for 1,450 farms.

In particular, by establishing a manpower supply and support system specialized in the agricultural sector, the center has contributed to resolving the labor shortage caused by rural population decline and aging, by connecting farms seeking workers with job seekers.

This year, as of April, the center has brokered 1,434 labor placements for 326 farms, and the number is expected to increase further as the peak farming season approaches.

Located on the second floor of the Nonghyup Sancheong-gun branch, the Workforce Brokerage Center operates various rural manpower support programs with two dedicated staff members, including surveys of labor supply and demand, building a manpower pool and farming work teams, and providing agricultural training.

Additionally, to reduce the burden on farms, the center provides participants in farm work with support for transportation and accommodation expenses, field training education fees, and accident insurance.

An official from the county said, "We hope that the Workforce Brokerage Center, which opened last year, will become even more active this year, not only helping to resolve labor supply and demand issues but also significantly contributing to reducing farm management costs and increasing income."
