Cho Myungrae, the Second Vice Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, conducted the ceremonial kickoff before the Gyeongnam FC home match of the '2024 K League 2' held at Changwon Football Center on the 19th.
Jomyeongrae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Changwon Special City, is performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This home match was the 10th round of the league, featuring Gyeongnam FC, currently ranked 11th in the '2024 K League 2', and Gimpo FC, ranked 8th. Recognizing the importance of this key match as a stepping stone to climb the rankings, Gyeongnam FC, knowing Vice Mayor Cho's affection for football, requested him to perform the ceremonial kickoff.
Vice Mayor Cho arrived at the stadium early, spent some time having tea with Gyeongnam FC officials including CEO Ji Hyuncheol and General Manager Jin Jeongwon, and joined Changwon citizens in wishing for Gyeongnam FC's victory.
In addition, he waved to the many residents and citizens present at the stadium, delivered a powerful ceremonial kickoff wishing for Gyeongnam FC's victory, and shook hands with all players of both teams, encouraging them to do their best.
At the beginning of this year, Vice Mayor Cho played a control tower role in the launch of Changwon FC. As the team's performance faltered at the start of the season, he visited the training ground and stadium to encourage the players, contributing to Changwon FC's recent upward momentum.
Vice Mayor Cho stated, "I hope Gyeongnam FC and Changwon FC both achieve great results and create a vibrant football atmosphere, bringing joy to residents and citizens. I strongly wish, together with the citizens of Changwon, that Gyeongnam FC will achieve promotion to K League 1 as targeted this year."
Meanwhile, since 2018, Changwon City has annually supported Gyeongnam FC with a budget under the title of 'Support for Revitalization of Provincial Professional Football Club Gyeongnam FC'. This year as well, a budget of 285 million KRW was provided.
