Graduates of the Tour Guide Interpreter Training Program Supported with Internships as Eunpyeong Global Cultural Ambassadors
Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it will carry out the ‘Customized Employment Support Project for Multicultural Families’ to help marriage immigrants and children of multicultural families leverage their bilingual strengths and multicultural competencies to advance into society.
The first initiative of this project is the operation of the ‘Customized Employment Support Multicultural Family Tourist Interpreter Training Course.’
The Eunpyeong-gu tourist interpreter training course prepares marriage immigrants for both the written and interview exams through subjects such as Introduction to Tourism, Tourism Laws and Regulations, Practical Tourism Guidance, and on-site training at major tourist destinations. In particular, the program plans to strengthen vivid Korean history education through field training.
Tourist interpreters can obtain certification and work by passing the first written exam and the second interview exam. Those who complete the education are exempt from two of the four written exam subjects?Introduction to Tourism and Tourism Laws and Regulations?and will be offered vocational training opportunities as Eunpyeong Global Cultural Ambassadors starting this September.
Eunpyeong-gu and the Eunpyeong Family Center jointly recruit and manage the trainees. The education is conducted by the ‘Korea Tourist Interpreter Association,’ an institution designated and announced by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a tourist interpreter training organization.
The Eunpyeong Family Center plans to provide childcare services to encourage marriage immigrants to focus on classes and prevent mid-course dropout.
Applications for the customized exam preparation class for marriage immigrants can be submitted by June 31 via the link or QR code on the poster.
The education period is from June 4 to August 13.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, “We will spare no effort to provide systematic and continuous customized education and employment support opportunities for multicultural family marriage immigrants and their children so that they can settle stably in the local community.”
