Hidden Joys in the 2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival... Jungnang-gu Creates 'Jungnangcheon Charm Garden'

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has created 'Jungnangcheon Charming Gardens' at two locations within the district so that residents can enjoy beautiful and diverse flowering trees throughout the four seasons.

The 'Jungnangcheon Charming Gardens,' established at Surimdae Rose Park and under Jangpyeonggyo Bridge, align with Seoul City's 'City of Gardens, Seoul' policy, enhancing the viewing experience by planting a variety of rare plants.

The first charming garden was created on the ground beneath the pine trees in front of Surimdae Rose Park. It features 7,024 plants of 84 species, including the ultra-compact mini rose 'Cutie Pie' and rarely seen plants such as pink baby veronica, island bellflower, and astilbe. This garden is expected to serve as a connecting space to the previously isolated rose tunnel and add vibrant colors to the park, creating a unique area.

The second charming garden was established along the riverside under Jangpyeonggyo Bridge. It enhances the garden's beauty by planting 6,750 plants of 43 species, including exotic British roses like 'Claire Austin' known for their sophisticated pastel tones, and hydrangeas.

In April, residents including the Jungnang Gardening Volunteer Group and garden artists participated together in planting the garden. On May 7, a garden experience program was held where children learned about the plants in the garden and practiced watering and caring for them.

The district is currently operating programs to provide experiences such as gardening for visitors who come to Jungnangcheon to attend the ongoing '2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival.'

District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, "I hope everyone visiting Jungnangcheon can enjoy a rich and happy time not only with the ten million roses but also with the charming gardens filled with exotic flowering trees."
