Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the 88-year-old King of Saudi Arabia, has been diagnosed with pneumonia, according to the state-run SPA news agency on the 19th (local time).
According to the report, King Salman is scheduled to receive pneumonia treatment at the royal exclusive hospital in Al Salam Palace in Jeddah. Earlier, the Saudi royal family announced that King Salman was to undergo tests due to high fever and joint pain symptoms that morning. King Salman also underwent a hospital examination and was discharged last month.
King Salman ascended to the throne in 2015. However, the current state affairs are effectively led by Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, who holds actual power.
Crown Prince bin Salman met with Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, on the same day to discuss a draft of a strategic agreement between the two countries related to the Gaza Strip war, SPA reported. He is also scheduled to visit Japan this week to hold talks with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
