Gimbap Made by Female Owner
Male CEO Complained It Was Sliced
8 Months Prison, 2 Years Probation
A man in his 40s who verbally abused and cursed at a restaurant owner’s husband for slicing the gimbap he ordered from the restaurant owner was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 19th, Yonhap News reported that the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 3 (Presiding Judge Park Seong-min) sentenced Mr. A (48), who was charged with insult and obstruction of business, to 8 months in prison with a 2-year suspension. The court also ordered Mr. A to perform 80 hours of community service.
Mr. A was brought to trial on charges of insulting Mr. B by cursing at him in front of employees and customers at a restaurant in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, on November 13 last year around 1:50 p.m., because Mr. B’s wife’s gimbap order was sliced by her husband, Mr. B. At that time, when Mr. B tried to avoid the situation by going outside the restaurant, Mr. A followed him and continued to insult him by shouting, "What year were you born? XX. I could kill you all."
One month later, on December 11 of the same year, it was added to the indictment that Mr. A caused a disturbance by loudly cursing at customers and Mr. C at another restaurant in Hongcheon operated by Mr. C, thereby obstructing the restaurant’s business. It was reported that Mr. A, intoxicated, caused a commotion for about 40 minutes, including cursing at customers of another restaurant.
The court explained the sentencing rationale, stating, "The sentence was determined considering that Mr. A committed the crimes during the probation period and has multiple prior convictions of the same kind."
