New Reform Party Leader Heo Eun-ah: "I Will Bring About the Election of a President"

Heo Eun-ah, former chief spokesperson (52), was elected as the new leader of the Reform New Party.

The Reform New Party announced on the 19th at the party convention held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building that former chief spokesperson Heo won the party leadership with 38.38% of the vote, defeating former Supreme Council member Lee Gi-in, who received 35.34%.

The result was based on a combined score from four rounds of regional on-site evaluation panel votes (25%), a general public opinion poll (25%), and party member votes at the convention (50%). The online party member voting rate from the 17th to the 19th was 70.04% (28,719 out of 41,004 members).

Newly appointed leader Heo is a former airline flight attendant and image consulting expert. She was recruited by the Liberty Korea Party (predecessor of the People Power Party) in 2020 and entered the 21st National Assembly as a proportional representative.

Serving as the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party from 2021 to 2022, she was classified as part of the non-Yoon (anti-Yoon Seok-yeol) faction, known as 'Cheon-A-Yong-In' (Cheon Ha-ram, Heo Eun-ah, Kim Yong-tae, Lee Gi-in), a close group of former leader Lee Jun-seok. She left the People Power Party in January to join the Reform New Party.

Due to her resignation from the party, Heo lost her proportional representative seat. She served as a Supreme Council member and chief spokesperson of the Reform New Party and ran unsuccessfully in the April 10 general election for Seoul Yeongdeungpo-gap.

In her acceptance speech, Heo said, "We will definitely produce a president in 2027," adding, "We will take the right path, even if it is difficult and challenging, rather than an easy, comfortable, and good path."

Alongside Heo, the Supreme Council members forming the leadership were elected according to the convention vote percentages: former Supreme Council member Lee Gi-in, and candidates Jo Dae-won and Jeon Seong-gyun.
