Held at Jeongokhang Area Until the 2nd of Next Month
Showcasing Various Marine Leisure Activities Including Yacht Boarding
The 14th Hwaseong Boat Festival, a representative marine festival in the Seoul metropolitan area, will be held for three days from the 31st of this month to the 2nd of next month around Jeongok Port.
The Hwaseong Boat Festival has been selected as a '2024~2025 Korea Cultural Tourism Festival' and this year, it will be held under the concept of 'Sea of Imagination, Hope Hwaseong' in conjunction with the '29th National Sea Day' ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
At this festival, various marine leisure activities and cultural events will be offered, including sea boarding experiences on yachts, boats, and cruise ships, as well as marine leisure experiences such as 'fun boats' and 'water bicycles.' Hwaseong City will especially introduce new programs for younger generations, such as augmented reality (AR) experiences using the latest technology and a nighttime EDM festival.
The nighttime programs, which received positive responses from visitors last year, will also be enhanced. Colorful boats are expected to decorate the night sea brilliantly through yacht and cruise ship night rides, fireworks, and unique yacht decoration contests. Yachts and boats will be on permanent display on land and sea to attract citizens' interest in Hwaseong City's marine leisure tourism and industry.
The city plans to promote this festival as a '3-No (無) Festival' with no overcharging, no safety accidents, and no litter. Local merchants will voluntarily display food photos, prices, and origins so that tourists can use the services without any burden.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "The Hwaseong Boat Festival will become a representative summer festival enjoyed by all citizens," adding, "Hwaseong City officials and local residents are working together to prepare for the successful hosting of the festival."
