Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) will operate the "Busan Future Heritage Theme Tour" a total of six times from June 2 to October.
The "Busan Future Heritage Theme Tour" is a half-day bus tour that has been operated since last year to inform citizens about the value and necessity of preserving future heritage.
This event features courses based on six themes representing Busan. To enhance citizens' interest and understanding of future heritage, cultural commentators are assigned to each course. In particular, this year a new "photo tour course" with a photographer has been developed and will be operated.
The "Busan, the Capital of Refugees" course explores Gamcheon Culture Village, Sanbok Road (Choryang Ibagu-gil), Jang Giryeo Memorial Hall, Donghang Catholic Church, and Somak Village.
The "Cultural Busan" course explores F1963, Busan Citizens Park, Beomildong Sewing Machine Street, and Busan Peace Market.
The "Busan, Flower of Resistance" course explores Shanghai Street, the birthplace of Park Chajeong, the site of the March 1st Movement (Dongnae Market), Democracy Park, and the Memorial Tower.
The "Cinematic Busan" course explores Joseon Kinema Company, 40 Steps, Donggwang-dong Printing Alley, Gukje Market, and Yeongdo Pier.
The "Colorful Busan" and "Old-fashioned Busan" are photo tour courses where participants visit Gamcheon Culture Village, Jangnim Port, Bosu-dong Book Alley, and Yeongdo Pier, and then take snapshots with a photographer.
The city plans to operate the following courses in the first half of the year: ▲Busan, the Capital of Refugees (June 2), ▲Cultural Busan (June 8), ▲Colorful Busan (June 9); and in the second half: ▲Busan, Flower of Resistance, ▲Cinematic Busan, and ▲Old-fashioned Busan.
This event is free for all Busan citizens. Applications for the first half will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 20 people per session through the Busan Future Heritage website starting from the 20th.
Applications for the second half will be announced additionally around August. For more details, please refer to the city's or Busan Future Heritage website notices.
Shim Jaemin, Director of the Culture and Sports Bureau, said, "This event will be a meaningful opportunity for citizens to broadly understand and experience the diverse future heritage of Busan," and added, "We ask for the active participation of many citizens interested in Busan's future heritage."
