On the first day of the 2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival on the 18th, District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi visited the festival site to celebrate the event.
On the 18th, the splendid curtain rose on the 2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival. Especially on the first day of the main festival period, the Grand Rose Festival (18th-19th), the ‘HAPPY ROSE DAY’ was held, a resident participation program.
The representative program of the Rose Festival, the ▲Rose Parade, saw the participation of about 1,200 people including residents from 16 neighborhoods and parade performance groups, marching 1.5 km along key points of the festival venue under the theme ‘We are the protagonists of the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,’ announcing the start of the festival.
The ▲Jungnang Rose Week Proclamation Performance, set with the meaning of seeing, eating, and enjoying in Jungnang, provided a unique spectacle with a laser show extending from the main stage to the audience seats, raising the atmosphere even higher. Following this, the ▲Rose Concert featured singers Kim Hee-jae and Soyumi performing to celebrate the festival, delivering joy until the very end.
At the Surimdae Rose Garden stage, ▲Rose Busking and ▲Jungnang Multicultural Performances were held, creating a festival where the residents are the main characters. Residents also participated in operating booths such as the Sharing Yard, adding vitality to the festival venue.
As Jungnang people are ‘sincere about roses,’ various ongoing programs themed around roses, such as the Rose Exhibition and Industry Fair (Rose Art Garden), zeROSE Eco-friendly Cafe, Rose Market, and Rose Gallery, along with Jungnang cultural booths (including Jungnang Alim Garden), continue until the 19th.
In particular, the Rose Talk Concert featured the Jungnang Rose Park manager, residents, and the Korea Rose Association sharing stories about decorating the festival venue with roses, rose planting methods, and history. The video will be released later on the foundation’s YouTube channel.
Yu Kyung-ae, CEO of the Jungnang Cultural Foundation, said, “We thank all the residents who helped create a rich and diverse festival,” and added, “We hope everyone who visits spends a time full of smiles as beautiful as the roses.”
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang District, also said, “I hope you had a time making happy memories while enjoying the beautiful scenery of roses with family, friends, and loved ones,” and “We will do our best to ensure the safe and enjoyable viewing of the festival for residents and visitors until the last day of the festival.”
