Gratitude and Resolutions from 100 New Adults... Songpa-gu's '2024 Seongnyeonchulbal Celebration Ceremony' Successfully Held

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it successfully held the "2024 Songpa-gu Coming-of-Age Celebration Ceremony" on the 18th at the Songpa-gu Office, with about 100 people born in 2005 in attendance, in celebration of the 52nd Coming-of-Age Day.

On this day, two representatives of the new adults, one male and one female, took the stage to read the Coming-of-Age Declaration on behalf of the 100 new adults. They expressed gratitude to their parents who gave birth to and raised them, pledged to fulfill their rights and duties as protagonists of the free democratic Republic of Korea, and vowed to become responsible adults who have a positive influence on their local community, country, and the world.

The event began with a congratulatory performance by ‘Ekrang,’ a string trio composed of students from the Korea National University of Arts, followed by a congratulatory message from the vice chairman of the Songpa Youth Network Committee, a senior adult, which drew attention.

In the second part, author Lim Hong-taek, who wrote "The Generation Born in 2000 is Coming," gave a special lecture. He introduced the method of ‘finding what I am good at’ through elimination to help with career planning and lectured on communication methods for those starting their social lives. The content, tailored to the perspective of those born in 2005, received enthusiastic responses from the attending new adults.

Songpa-gu is celebrating the coming of age by providing mobile local currency "Songpa Love Gift Certificates" worth 200,000 KRW per person to those born in 2005 who have lived in the area for more than one year. Applications are being accepted online through the district website until July 31.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “I sincerely congratulate the young people taking their first steps into society on becoming adults,” and added, “I hope the new adults will freely pursue their dreams and hopes and spread positive influence in society with a sense of responsibility.”
