King Charles III of the United Kingdom will visit Normandy, France next month, Buckingham Palace announced on the 17th (local time). This will be his first overseas trip since his cancer diagnosis.

On the 6th of next month, Charles III is scheduled to attend the 80th anniversary ceremony of the Normandy Landings at the "British Normandy Memorial" in Ver-sur-Mer, France. Queen Camilla will accompany him.

The Normandy Landings, which took place on June 6, 1944, was a decisive military operation that led the Allied forces to victory in World War II. Western countries continue to regard this day as a major commemorative occasion in honor of its significance.

On the same day, Charles III's eldest son, Prince William, will also visit France to attend a ceremony at the "Juno Beach Centre," a memorial for fallen Canadian soldiers in Courseulles-sur-Mer.

Charles III will not attend the large-scale international ceremony held at Omaha Beach in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, where heads of state from 25 countries and veterans from around the world will gather. Prince William plans to attend this event on his behalf. Catherine, Princess of Wales, who is undergoing cancer treatment, will not accompany the visit to France.

Since announcing his cancer treatment in early February this year, Charles III had suspended public activities but resumed external engagements at the end of last month, three months later.
