Various Features Introduced for Disabled Users
Anticipation for New iPhone 16 Integration
Apple has introduced various features for users with disabilities. These include the ability for hearing-impaired users to experience music and a feature that allows users with physical disabilities to control the iPhone using eye tracking. They have also devised a method to reduce motion sickness when using the iPhone in a moving vehicle.
Apple has introduced the 'Vehicle Motion Cue' feature, which helps reduce motion sickness for iPhone users in moving vehicles.
On the 17th, Apple unveiled a feature that enables users with physical disabilities to control the iPad or iPhone. It is expected to be released in the second half of this year and is anticipated to be included in the iPhone 16.
First, Apple introduced a built-in option that allows users to operate Apple devices using only their eyes. This is expected to be useful for users who cannot move their fingers due to paralysis or other conditions. Using the front camera, users can launch and close various applications. Apple stated, "No additional hardware or accessories are required," and added, "All data used in this process is securely stored on the device itself and is not shared with Apple."
Apple also introduced a new way for users with hearing impairments or hearing loss to experience music on the iPhone. Apple explained that by using "Music Haptics," taps, textures, and subtle vibrations are implemented according to the music sounds. This works with millions of songs available on Apple Music and is also supported via an API for developers.
Features for users facing speech difficulties due to conditions such as Lou Gehrig's disease or stroke were also introduced. Siri can perform complex tasks with short and simple commands.
Apple also unveiled an innovative method to reduce motion sickness for iPhone and iPad users in moving vehicles. This is called the "Vehicle Motion Cue" feature. It is based on the idea that motion sickness occurs due to sensory conflicts between what a person sees and feels. When using Vehicle Motion Cue, moving dots at the edges of the screen move according to the vehicle’s motion, reducing sensory conflict without interfering with the content being viewed. Vehicle Motion Cue uses built-in sensors to detect when the user is in a vehicle and responds appropriately.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "We believe the power of change through innovation enriches lives," and added, "We will continue to push the boundaries of technology without rest." He stated, "These new features reflect our long-standing effort to provide the best possible experience for all users."
