Seodaemun-gu Presents Plaques of Appreciation to Outstanding Donors for Warm Winter 2024 Campaign

Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 16th that a commendation ceremony was recently held in the mayor's office to honor outstanding donors for the '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.'

The recipients include ▲ Yeongcheon District Housing Redevelopment Association ▲ Ahyeon Catholic Church Credit Union ▲ Sinchon Garewon ▲ Hongje Saemaeul Geumgo ▲ Hongjeon Hyundai Apartment Residents' Representative Council ▲ Deungchon F&B ▲ Daehwa Building ▲ Gajaeul Saemaeul Geumgo ▲ Korea Terminal Industry ▲ Gajwa-dong Gwang Church, totaling 10 organizations.

The 'Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' is an intensive fundraising campaign conducted annually by Seodaemun-gu in partnership with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to support low-income vulnerable groups during the winter season.

From November 15 last year to February 14 this year, over a three-month period, donations and goods worth approximately 860 million KRW were collected from local businesses, organizations, and residents.

This amount exceeded the target of 807 million KRW by 106.6%.

The donated funds and goods are used throughout the year for medical expenses, moving costs, disaster relief, wallpaper and flooring support, and other needs of vulnerable households in the district.

Notably, this year, new categories such as nursing care expenses and dental support were added, and special projects by neighborhood are being implemented to provide welfare services tailored to local demands.

Through the '2023 Warm Winter Fund,' 3,492 low-income vulnerable households in the area received support.

Yu Jaekyun, head of the Yeongcheon District Housing Redevelopment Association, who received the outstanding donor award, stated, “We will actively promote the 2025 campaign so that the community can take greater interest in the Warm Winter Campaign.”

Lee Seongyu, CEO of Garewon in Sinchon, which has been operating for over 40 years, also received a commendation and said, “I have been practicing sharing for over 30 years, and I feel that I must continue to share with neighbors in need.”

Seodaemun-gu Mayor Lee Seongheon expressed gratitude to the outstanding donors and said, “We will do our best to ensure that the precious contributions collected from donors are delivered appropriately and effectively.”
