KOSHA Launches 'May Safe Workplace Creation Day' Campaign

Shipbuilding Site Safety Culture Promotion Campaign on the 16th

The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Director: Gong Heungdoo) recently conducted a campaign for the May Safe Workplace Creation Day on the 16th. This initiative was in response to a series of serious industrial accidents in the shipbuilding industry and included an inspection of safety and health activities at HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, one of the major shipyards within the jurisdiction of the Busan Regional Headquarters, as well as efforts to promote a culture of safety at shipbuilding sites.

KOSHA Launches 'May Safe Workplace Creation Day' Campaign On the 16th, the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency conducted the 'May Safe Workplace Creation Day Campaign.'

The May Safe Workplace Creation Day campaign was attended by more than 40 officials and stakeholders, including Kim Junhui, Director of the Busan Employment and Labor Office, as well as representatives from the Eastern and Northern Branches, the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, the Safety Culture Implementation Task Force, and partner companies. Together, they worked to create safer workplaces and prevent accidents.


During the visit to HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, the team conducted ① on-site safety inspections, ② a campaign to attach hazard warning signs, and ③ a campaign to spread safety culture slogans, taking significant steps toward preventing serious industrial accidents in the shipbuilding industry.


The hazard warning signs included fall hazard warnings and the message, "Always wear a safety helmet and safety belt when working at heights!"


Director Gong Heungdoo stated, "Establishing a safety and health management system through close communication with both primary contractors and subcontractors is key to preventing accidents in the shipbuilding industry," adding, "The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency will spare no effort in providing all available resources to reduce fatal accidents."
