Business Agreement Signed with Seven Local Mental Health Welfare Centers Including Geumjeong-gu
Three-in-One Mind and Body Health... Launch of 'Mental Health Welfare Services'
Busan Metropolitan City Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yonghak) announced on the 16th that it has signed agreements with seven local mental health welfare centers in Geumjeong-gu, Busanjin-gu, Buk-gu, Sasang-gu, Saha-gu, Yeongdo-gu, and Haeundae-gu to implement a 'Mental Health Welfare Service' for residents of permanent rental housing.
Busan Urban Corporation is signing agreements with seven mental health welfare centers to provide mental health welfare services for residents of permanent rental housing.
This agreement was promoted with the aim of improving the mental health and quality of life of residents, by establishing a collaborative system between BMC, which supplies and manages permanent rental housing, and the local mental health welfare centers.
Mental health refers to the well-being of the mind, mental care, and mental hygiene. BMC supports residents who are experiencing difficulties with mental health by helping to reduce and alleviate mental fatigue, stress, and worries, as well as providing support for the prevention and recovery of mental disorders through mental health care services.
BMC is responsible for managing resident status, supporting publicity, and providing event venues, while the mental health welfare centers provide services such as counseling, case management, and treatment referrals for residents.
Among the 10,725 permanent rental housing units managed by BMC, about 83% are occupied by recipients of basic livelihood support, and about 49% are single-person households aged 65 or older.
In line with the current status of residents, BMC has been providing both Western and Korean medicine services in the field of public health care since April this year to care for physical health, and now plans to offer a 'three-piece set for mind and body health' by additionally implementing this mental health welfare service.
Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation, said, "We will make multifaceted efforts to ensure that residents of permanent rental housing who are experiencing difficulties such as stress, depression, and anxiety in their daily lives can lead healthier and happier lives through the provision of mental health welfare services."
