Alika Schmidt, a German track and field athlete who has been dubbed the "sexiest athlete in the world" by overseas media, has qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in Hong Kong on the 15th, Schmidt recently secured a ticket to the Paris Olympic finals as part of the German team alongside Manuel Sanders, Johanna Martin, and Emil Agekum in the mixed 4x400m relay at the 2024 World Relay Championships held in Nassau, Bahamas.
Schmidt recently posted a commemorative photo with her teammates on her social media with the caption "From heaven to Paris." On another social media account, she celebrated by saying, "The Olympic season has officially begun."
The upcoming Paris Olympics will mark Schmidt's Olympic debut. She was part of the mixed 4x400m relay team introduced for the first time at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but did not get a chance to compete.
Standing 175cm tall with a well-balanced physique and beautiful appearance, Schmidt is called the "sexiest athlete in the world" by fans and international media alike.
In addition to being an athlete, Schmidt also works as a model. She stated, "Most German track and field athletes find it difficult to make a living solely from sports," adding, "Most athletes study alongside their sports careers and take on side jobs for additional income."
Her Instagram followers exceed 5 million. Recently, she made headlines for either earning over 10 billion won in a month or turning down large sponsorship deals. Schmidt explained her refusal, saying, "I was approached by a famous brand two months ago, but it didn’t feel right."
The media reported that Schmidt has kept her private life away from the public eye. She was once spotted dating German bodybuilder Freddy Richter and appeared at the 2022 Milan Fashion Week alongside British boxer Anthony Joshua and supermodel Naomi Campbell. In the same year, she also took photos with Brazilian soccer player Neymar.
Through her social media, Schmidt announced her Olympic participation, saying, "I am really proud of our team and excited about what awaits us this year."
Meanwhile, Schmidt won a silver medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the 2017 U-20 European Athletics Championships and a bronze medal in the women's 4x400m relay at the 2019 U-23 European Athletics Championships.
