On the afternoon of the 14th at 4 PM, Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon met with Hamaguchi Taishi, Chairman of the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly, and Yamashita Naoya, President of the Japan-Korea Friendship Kyoto Prefectural Assembly Members’ Federation, at the City Hall International Protocol Room to discuss ways to promote mutual exchange and cooperation between Busan and Wakayama Prefecture.

This visit by the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly to Busan was arranged to discuss various measures to vitalize exchange and cooperation between the two regions, as exchanges between Busan and Japan continue to increase.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon began by saying, "Wakayama Prefecture is known as the sacred place for workation in Japan. Since the agreement was signed last September to lead and vitalize the workation culture between the two cities, we have been sharing best practices and strengthening organic cooperation. I expect that exchanges will become even more active starting today."

Last September, the city and Wakayama Prefecture signed an agreement to lead and vitalize the vacation remote work (workation) culture.

Mayor Park continued, "This year, Busan is implementing various support measures to boost the tourism market and secure a competitive edge. I hope the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly will assist so that many tourists from Wakayama Prefecture can visit Busan," he emphasized.

In response, Hamaguchi Taishi, Chairman of the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly, said, "After signing the agreement last year to lead and vitalize the workation culture with Busan, our assembly has also been working to promote friendship and exchange between the two regions. We will do our best in the Wakayama Prefectural Assembly to ensure that Busan citizens can comfortably visit Wakayama Prefecture," he replied.

Finally, Mayor Park concluded the meeting by saying, "I will strive to make Busan a 'global hub city' and to strengthen cooperation with various cities in Japan. Since both Busan and Wakayama Prefecture have airports and ports in common, I expect exchanges will become even more active. Let us work together to actively promote workation and tourism between Busan and Wakayama Prefecture."
